THE VALUE OF OUR MBAs IS IN OUR HANDS. Business school rankings weigh heavily on the satisfaction of former students and one of the most tangible measurements is the level of alumni donations. Your gift will help to further enhance the quality of a Stern education for future students, and ensure that the Stern degree remains among the most prestigious in business education.
Our class of 2005 voted on the gift we want to give back to Stern and we elected to establish a Student Support Fund. This endowment from our class is designed to enhance the Stern brand and three key areas of MBA life:
1. Fostering non-profit leadership
2. Increasing international visibility
3. Supporting domestic academic competitions
A portion of the fund will be used annually to support future generations of Stern students participating in activities that contribute to Stern's core values and strengths. Stern did particularly well last year with 92% participation compared with 82% for Haas, 84% for Kellogg, 95% for Chicago, and 98% for Wharton. Our goal this year is to collect $300,000 from the class of 2005 and to have 95% participation.
So if you are undecided about giving back to your (soon-to-be) alma mater, here are a few reasons why donating is a great idea:
*Hundreds of employers will contribute money to your donation. For example, if you pledge $3,000 and your company's policy is to match 1-for-1, you will only be responsible for $1,500 of the pledge. Check out the Legacy website for a list of employers participating in the matching program
*There is a flexible payment plan created for our class's Campaign. Very few of us have disposable cash these days, so you can pay now, later... some now, some later... everything 4 years later... and of course, however much you want.
*It's tax deductible!
*Help make a strong Class statement. The final percentage contributed and dollar-amount will be announced at Pre-commencement. This is a chance to bring our class together for our first demonstration of alumni spirit.
For those people who have already pledged, THANK YOU!!! For everyone else, we would really appreciate your participation. Don't forget, pledges must be made by Graduation. If you have any questions then don't hesitate to contact any member of the Legacy Committee.
Your gift is a very personal decision, but please bear these points in mind over the next six weeks.
