No doubt you are now used to your classes, and should be entering the mid-semester lull. Your prof probably seems monotone or unintelligible, the subject matter is no longer interesting, and you find that in the middle of the lecture you tune out for hours that unfortunately translate into only five minutes in time measured by Western standards. 120 minutes of any class, let alone three hours of MO, seems like an eternity. You are bored, and we feel you.

So we brain stormed a few ideas, and jotted down some creative ways to kill time effectively in class and not fall sleep. Because if Gode sees you sleeping... well... it won't be pretty. So here are some suggestions that don't involve surfing the net, which is far too obvious and conventional.

1. Make a list of the top five hottest people in your block. Be creative and look at everyone with an open mind. This exercise will actually make for a great topic of conversation later on in the year when you all know each other better and find yourselves bored and drunk at Bar Blast.

2. Make a list of the top five hottest people at Stern. The pool gets bigger, and your creativity can decrease.

3. Make a list of the top hottest people in OCD. Small pool, but some really hot people work there!

4. Write an article for the Oppy. We could always use more articles. Need not be witty or based on real events. Just read Matt's column to see just how liberal they are on facts or quality. (Written by one n, since two n's would never insult our beloved co-editor).

5. Think of the songs you want to find on shared iTunes files, and make a note of them so that you can borrow them later.

6. Revise your resume for the 817th time this semester. Then run it by OCD.

7. Revise your resume as if you were changing specializations. For instance, if you are going to investment banking, argue that you want a marketing job instead. Some people do this anyway because they have no idea what they want to do with their careers, but those of us with direction could have fun with the exercise.

8. I just got an e-mail today - the face books are out!! The Stern face book is by far the most entertaining and useful book you'll ever come across in your academic career. It can provide you with hours upon hours of analysis and laughter. Just flip through the pages and you'll find yourself hypnotized with memories of previous Beer Blasts, Bar Blasts, Pre-Term, and maybe, just maybe, it will begin your journey of making up stories about, and with, your peers. Enjoy!
