What is J.P. Morgan currently doing in regards to women's initiatives?
J.P. Morgan is committed to having an inclusive environment where everyone can succeed based on merit. We have continued to build programs and grow employee networking groups that support top female talent at all levels throughout the firm. Our Winning Women program aims to identify, develop and recruit talented first-year MBA female students. The program provides an opportunity for students to gain leadership skills, learn about the firm, and network with other successful women. We also have incredible Junior Women's Networks, built and run by female Analysts and Associates in the Investment Bank. As female employees move up in their careers, they become a part of our Investment Bank Women's Network (IBWN). The IBWN started out as a grassroots effort to attract, retain, develop, and promote more women. The women of IBWN went after that mission the same way they run their businesses - with precision and relentlessness.
What advice do you have for MBA women about to graduate in today's changing environment?
Graduating in today's market environment offers an interesting perspective and also an exciting opportunity. Our industry is clearly going through a transformation, and now is a great time to take part in helping shape its future. Careers in the investment bank offer a combination of fast-paced, challenging work; exposure to deals and global resources; skill-building opportunities and client interactions. Our industry also allows you to create considerable earnings power for yourself. If you have a job lined up, jump in feet first, work really hard and learn as much as you can. If you are searching for a job, networking is key. Reach out to as many people as possible; you never know where opportunities may arise.
